Internet Scams: Knowing When To Tighten Your Fist

Internet scams may seem like a fast way to make money, but they’re also a sure way to end up behind bars with an empty wallet. Through being involved in internet business, I’ve developed a keen eye for a scam when I see one. That’s why there are certain things I look out for:

No Refund?

If a business operates a policy where they don’t offer refunds, then you should stop and ask yourself why? Through having a refund policy in place businesses can make more sales, and if customers are happy they won’t want to cancel. There are exceptions, but a good general rule.

It sounds too good to be true…

If you think something sounds too good to be true, then you should take a step back and think about it. However, you should also keep in mind that business people are risk takers. You have to be prepared to take calculated, measures, risks. If my voice of reason managed to overcome the dollar signs in my eyes, then I wouldn’t have got started in paid surveys.

Look for testimonials about a company before you buy. And, don’t always trust what you see on their site. That could be their family and friends or, worse still, they could have made them up.

Sales Tactics

How did you hear about an opportunity? If you get a cold call, are sent a SPAM email, or have a pop-up shoved in your face then what does that tell you about that company?

It tells me that they don’t have a clue about effective marketing techniques. And, that tells me that you should stay away. Look for signs of trust like: a budget to spend on non-evasive marketing and third-party recommendations.

If a business is prepared to do whatever it takes to get you to buy their product then the chances are that it isn’t that great. In the online world great ideas spread like wildfire.
